The Kongresshotel at the airship port in Potsdam
The name Luftschiffhafen is a reminder of the time when Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin (1838-1917) built his airships here. The building that you know today as the Kongresshotel Potsdam was built in the 1990s. The architecture masterfully echoes the character of the airships – the three main buildings float like zeppelins above the grounds on Lake Templin. The listed buildings of the former production site of the Zeppelin shipyard have been impressively integrated into a modern hotel complex that perfectly meets even the highest standards. Originally built as the East German Savings Banks Academy, the building was converted into a congress hotel and opened in 2004. The close connection with the East German Savings Banks Association still exists. In the same year, the hotel restaurants were also opened and have been treating both hotel guests and guests from the region to culinary delights ever since.
